Building a progressive community arts organisation
About us
Pittwater Offshore Artists and Makers is a diverse group of people who live offshore in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. In March 2026, we came together to discuss how to support each other and share our work with a wider audience.
We create opportunities for artists and makers on Scotland Island and Pittwater’s Western Foreshores to connect with each other, learn and collaborate. By bringing together people of different ages, backgrounds and experiences, including emerging makers, we reduce social isolation, build confidence, friendship and belonging.
We make art and craft accessible to all and contribute to our vibrant community with its unique way of life. These social bonds foster trust, create a shared sense of identity, enhance social cohesion and strengthen civil society.
We registered Pittwater Offshore Artists and Makers as an incorporated association in May 2026. Our association is a vehicle to organise exhibitions, studio visits and workshops to share skills, support each other and engage the offshore community in art and making. We are a not-for-profit entity that is legally required to reinvest funds back into our programs, events and activities.
Our values
We seek to build a strong, clearly articulated sense of identity, around four key values:
Generosity: We share skills, knowledge, time and resources within the association and with the local community and wider public.
Respect: We honour the diversity and validity of each other's practice, regardless of medium or experience. We handle conflict early, honestly and fairly.
Inclusivity: We welcome new members, ideas and forms of practice to create space for everyone, regardless of age or experience to participate and influence our activities. We aim to build a culture in which people feel seen, heard and valued.
Place: We recognise that we live and work on unceded Garigal Country. Place is at the heart of what we do and guides our respect for the environment and community.
