Membership

The benefits of becoming a member

Membership enables you to engage in a supportive creative community whatever your level of experience.

Deliver or participate in workshops, demonstrations, artist talks, mentoring sessions and studio visits. Be part of a creative network that can create opportunities that might not be easily available to individuals.

You don’t have to be a practicising artist or maker. If you’re thinking of taking up a creative practice, POAM membership can help you connect with people who can give you advice.

Opportunities to exhibit and sell

Participate in exhibitions, markets and open studios, develop relationships with galleries on the mainland and have your work promoted through websites, newsletters and social media.

Community and belonging

Collaborate on projects, celebrate each other’s successes and support one another through setbacks. Strong communities reduce social isolation and improve wellbeing. Collectively, we have important stories to tell and our work creates lasting cultural value.

Collective voice and advocacy

Our association seeks to build relationships with councils, galleries, funding bodies and community organisations, and be part of the movement to improve opportunities for artists and makers. We are demonstrating the social, cultural and economic value of arts within our community.

Professional development and resources

Our members can help each other with running creative businesses, from pricing, copyright and insurance, to photographing artwork, applying for grants, and selling your work. A broad members will enable us to share resources such as exhibition equipment, specialist tools, a library, bulk purchasing arrangements or access to studio space.
