Anne Willman
As long as she can remember, Anne has been fascinated with painting and mark making.
She mainly works in watercolours and mixing media to achieve complex details.
A professional graphic designer and illustrator, Anne finds a particular freshness in watercolour and enjoys the impulsiveness a loaded brush requires. By combining subdued transparent colours and flat opaque hues, she creates areas of high contrast to add focus and interest to her images.
To create monotypes, Anne rolls dark oils on a glass pane. This gives her time to carve into the paint with an assortment of tools to create her designs. The excitement of this process is the partial loss of control and the happy accidents that occur along the way.
The forest around her Scotland Island home and the beauty of Pittwater instills wonder in Anne and inspires her to create art.
