Kathleen James

Kathy is inspired by beautiful watery landscapes shaped by light or weather changes.

She paints places that hold meaning for her, including those she discovers on her travels. Often starting with a study on paper, Kathy then creates an oil or acrylic painting on canvas.

Kathy started painting about 12 years ago in a Saturday art group run by Marion van den Driesschen. The greatest gift Marion gave to the group, Kathleen says, was teaching them how to do oil painting.

Her painting has grown out of a love of art history and an Honours degree in Fine Arts at the University of Sydney. After a weekend trip with her husband Glenn and daughter Jess about 20 years ago, the family fell in love with Pittwater and decided to move to Scotland Island.
