Rudy Speerschneider

Rudy is a trained abstract landscape painter who is inspired and fascinated by the ancient art of cartography. He creates unique painted globes that tell the story of a person’s travels, ancestry or places of significance in their lives. His work has been shown at festivals.

Combining the natural beauty of Earth as seen in satellite imagery from space, with inspiration from old maps and globes, Rudy draws freehand onto solid wood globes and then uses acrylic paint to develop his personalised designs.

Rudy combines his unusual skills and experiences of working as a freelance illustrator, gallery curator, chef, ice cream maker and tiny dwelling builder to his globe-making craft. He feels he has “dipped his paintbrush into life” and brings that richness of experience, movement and energy to every globe he creates.
