Dimitri Lihachov

Dimitri Lihachov is a traditionally trained painter who studied at Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney and Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York.

With a foundation in academic oil painting, his practice has long focused on portraiture and figurative work. He is also a trained practitioner of egg tempera, employing traditional techniques of hand-ground pigments and Gold leaf to create icons in the Byzantine style.

Having lived in Pittwater for over 30 years, Dimitri has increasingly turned his attention to the natural landscape, drawing inspiration from the distinctive light, waterways and natural environment of the region.

He has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions and has been a finalist in several prestigious Australian art prizes, including the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize and the Blake Prize.
