Nettie Lodge
Nettie’s whimsical watercolours are displayed in public and private collections around the world.
She works in Sydney as a freelance illustrator, author, painter and tutor. She’s lived in Pittwater for 30 years. She built her own house on Scotland island in 2000.
Nettie has taken part in numerous exhibitions. Her most recent solo exhibition held at the Manly Regional Gallery was entitled the Ancient Mariner. It was based on the Coleridge poem and involved 40 art pieces and a 3D installation.
Much of Nettie’s art features fish, birds and animals, inspired by her global travels. These include giraffes, monkeys and elephants from Africa, blackbirds from Ireland, sloths from Costa Rica and native animals in Australia. For the last 25 years, she’s written and illustrated many children’s picture books, including Bird that won a Notable Book Merit at the Children’s Book Council of Australia Awards.
